On Monday, September 28, the Community Council validated the submission of the application file for the Regional Express Metropolitan Service (SERM) status for the Toulon area to the State. This deliberation follows several months of studies and consultations, marking a significant new step for the project. The file will soon be sent to the Ministry of Transport for review and potential status attribution.
The SERM for the Toulon area aims to provide a reliable, frequent, and easy-to-use mobility service, facilitating travel between urban centers and suburban areas. This ambitious project encompasses the territory of the Sud Sainte Baume Urban Community as well as five other local authorities.
Ultimately, the SERM seeks to enhance rail services and intermodality. It includes the development of high-frequency bus services around stations and the creation of structured cycling infrastructure. The goal is to offer efficient mobility services to better connect the various territories within the Toulon area and provide attractive alternatives to individual car use.
