The restoration work on the gates of the Moulin des Toiles weir in Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue, which started in September, is nearing completion. On Friday, October 16th, elected officials from the City and the Syndicat Mixte du Bassin des Sorgues (SMBS) visited the site to observe the progress of the project.
This historic structure, weakened by time and vandalism, required restoration to strengthen its structure and ensure its longevity. Interventions included restoring stone masonry, reinforcing gates and foundations, rebuilding a stone door, and replacing the old concrete footbridge with a new metal structure. These efforts aim to durably consolidate the structure while respecting its heritage character.
This operation, costing €80,000 including tax, is being carried out by the company L’Atelier de la Boutisse. It is part of a broader initiative to preserve and enhance the heritage that defines the local territory, a shared objective of the City of Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue and the SMBS.
After several weeks of work, the final touches are underway. The project is expected to be completed around October 30th. The City of Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue has thanked the SMBS and all involved parties for their commitment to this operation, which contributes to the preservation of local heritage.
