To support expectant parents and families during the first months of their child's life, the Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Marseille (AP-HM) and the City of Marseille have reinforced their partnership. This initiative involves the establishment of Early Childhood Information Points within the maternity units of the Hôpital de la Conception and the Hôpital Nord.
This initiative is part of an official agreement, launched on September 24th at the Hôpital Nord. The event was attended by several officials, including Juliette Masson, Deputy Mayor for Early Childhood, Anthony Gonçalves, Deputy Mayor for Health, Clémentine Loeillet, Director of Early Childhood, Jeanne De Poulpiquet, Director of Hôpital Nord, and Dominique Orsini, Deputy Director and Director of the Women, Parents, and Children's Pole.
Each year, the city of Marseille records nearly 10,000 births and has over 32,000 children under three years old. Given the variety of available childcare options and the complexity of administrative procedures, access to clear and personalized information is crucial for families. These new information points aim to help expectant and new parents find childcare solutions, understand the options available in Marseille, and navigate registration processes, notably through the Superminot application.
The decision to locate these centers within AP-HM maternity wards stems from a shared goal to provide information close to families at a key moment in their journey. Permanences will be staffed by City of Marseille agents specifically trained in family information and support. These spaces will also be open to AP-HM professionals.
This project demonstrates the joint commitment of AP-HM and the City of Marseille to improve access to early childhood services. Beyond information on childcare options, agents can also guide families facing specific situations or urgent childcare needs. By bringing information closer to birth locations, the partners aim to offer earlier, more accessible, and personalized support to parents and expectant parents.
The reception areas are located at the Hôpital de la Conception (high-risk pregnancy consultations) and the Hôpital Nord (Maternity-Children Pavilion reception). Permanences will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at the Hôpital Nord, and on Wednesdays at La Conception.
