The municipality of Tourrettes has initiated a process to obtain recognition of natural disaster status concerning the 2026 drought phenomena. Residents who have observed cracks on their homes, walls, or outbuildings, potentially linked to drought and soil rehydration, are called upon to come forward.
Recognition of natural disaster status is a collective effort. The more numerous and well-documented the resident reports are, the stronger the file submitted to state services will be. The town hall is compiling these reports to create a unified dossier.
The procedure requires that property owners have an insurance contract for the affected assets and have notified their insurance company as soon as possible. They must send an explanatory letter to the town hall, accompanied by dated photographs of the damages, specifying their full name, phone number, email, and the address of the affected property.
Reports can be sent by email to mairie@mairie-tourrettes-83.fr or by mail to Mairie de Tourrettes – Place de la mairie – 83440 TOURRETTES. The town hall will then compile a dossier of these requests to submit to the prefecture.
Following review by an inter-ministerial commission, if the opinion is favorable, the recognition will be published in the Official Journal. Insured individuals will then have 30 days from the publication date to submit their file to their insurance company. The deadline for submitting a file to the town hall is set for November 15, 2026.
